THIS year’s Gourock mixed greensome competition was somewhat different because of all the Covid-19 related restrictions in place. However, despite the fact that there were no visitors allowed to play because of current guidelines, there was an enthusiastic turnout of 72 Gourock Golf Club players on the day, enjoying the happy ambience on the course, and competing for the Robert and Marion Rice Trophy.

The weather was perfect for golf - sunny with a gentle breeze.

The views from Gourock Golf Club are second to none, and the scenery was particularly splendid on the day of the competition.

The course was playing well, and Hugh Logue and his team of greenkeepers are to be congratulated for the conditions on the course, despite the difficulties earlier in the year with furlough and quarantine problems.

Martin Campbell and Joan Green won the handicap prize and the trophy with an impressive score of 69.2.

The scratch prize was won by Brian Campbell and Jill Balloch, with a gross score of 77.
