Hamilton FP...3

Doune Castle...5

Doune struck a late double to secure victory against a Hamilton side who contributed much to an open and entertaining league cup tie, played on a slippery surface due to the incessant rain.

Doune deservedly took a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes.

Paul Statter cut the ball back to Chris Ogilvie who checked inside his marker before lashing home a low shot from 10 yards.

Hamilton took advantage of careless Doune defending to equalise after 27 minutes, blasting past Steven Fotheringham from 12 yards to make it 1-1.

Doune grabbed a 2-1 lead 30 seconds after the restart.

Dylan McGowan latched onto a short pass back and dragged it around the keeper before sliding the ball into the empty net from 16 yards.

Hamilton struck a fine equaliser after 56 minutes. A spectacular finish flew high past Steven Fotheringham from 25 yards to make it 2-2.

After 70 minutes, Doune took the lead for the third time in the match. The Hamilton keeper failed to hold a cross from the right. Kenny Feaks nodded decisively home from 8 yards to make it 3-2.

After 85 minutes, Hamilton made it 3-3 with an opportunist finish.

Doune refused to allow this game to slip from their grasp and took a 4-3 lead with a stunning goal after 88 minutes.

Murray Docherty started the move with a precise ball to Niall McClure. McClure dinked the ball over the defence to Alan More. More cushioned the ball back to Sean Heaver at the edge of the area.

Heaver acrobatically angled a hitch-kick volley from 20 yards that crashed off the underside of the bar and bounced high into the net with the keeper a helpless spectator.

Doune pushed on and put the game beyond the home side, making it 5-3 on 90 minutes.

Niall McClure curled the ball round the full back to Chris Ogilvie. Ogilvie calmly drew the keeper and slipped the ball home from 8 yards.
