SCOTLAND Youth Darts Team enjoyed another great international year with many personal highlights for everyone involved in 2015.

The team consisted of players from over Scotland with two coming from the Stirling Area.

Gayle Maxwell & Lewis Plank are both Stirling natives. Gayle gained three caps for Scotland this year playing in the British Internationals in Wales, The Europe Youth Cup in Denmark and the World Cup in Turkey.

Lewis gained two caps for Scotland this year playing in the British Internationals in Wales and the Europe Youth Cup in Denmark.

In the Europe Cup, Gayle qualified for the last 16 of the singles with Lewis in the last 32. Their team mates also played well and Lewis was involved in a nail biting match against Belgium and checked out to draw the match 8-8 and to go into a deciding leg. Unfortunately they lost the deciding leg, but after a long agonising wait they qualified out of their group into the last 8 and played an inform Netherlands team.

The girls team finished 10th & the boys team finished 8th overall.

In October, most of the Team took part in the Winmau World Masters in Hull. This was an amazing event for the players with Gayle losing in the quarter finals, Rebecca played fantastic all day and qualified for the Final where she lost to Danielle Ashton (England), but was a great achievement for a 13-year-old.

Craig Johnston lost out in the last 32 along with Liam Mitchell and Graeme Hamilton lost in the quarter finals.

We have just returned from the World Cup in Turkey with Gayle, Rebecca, Liam & Craig – this was an excellent event for all concerned with Liam & Craig coming home with a bronze medal for the boys pairs after losing in the Semi Finals to the eventual winners.

Gayle again had a fantastic competition in the singles losing out at the quarter final stage to the eventual winner.

Liam & Rebecca and Gayle & Craig were great pairings in the pairs and complemented each other in their play – both headed their group qualifying into the last 16 of the competition but lost out to a Denmark & Russian pair.

The team finished 6th overall which was a great achievement.
