WITNESSES are being sought after two people got seriously injured in a car crash on the A9 yesterday afternoon.

The incident happened around 2.30pm on Wednesday, December 28, near Gartclush Farm between Bannockburn and Plean where a Kia Picanto and a Ford Mondeo collided.

The 87-year-old male driver of the Picanto and his 82-year-old passenger were badly injured and remain in a serious, but stable, condition at Forth Valley Royal Hospital.

Police Scotland is now appealing for witnesses as inquiries into the incident are still ongoing.

Inspector Roddy MacMillan of the Road Policing Unit, based in Stirling, said: "The road was closed for sometime to allow for investigations at the scene.

"I urge anyone who witnessed this incident or either vehicle prior to the collision to contact police immediately on 101 if not already done so."

The two female occupants of the Mondeo sustained minor injuries and have since been released from hospital.
