A CANCER support centre is urging people to lace up and raise funds for the good cause this month.

Maggie's Forth Valley is organising a 10k walk from the Kelpies in Falkirk to its centre on the grounds of Forth Valley Royal Hospital.

The Meander to Maggie's event will take place on Friday, May 27, with people invited to take part and raise funds through a £150 sponsorship target.

The event will finish with an after party, including a BBQ, drinks and a DJ to help people celebrate once they cross the finish line.

Eddie Short was one of the participants at least year's event, looking to give back after he received support himself.

He said: “I really enjoyed being involved in the meander and mixing with like-minded people.

“The reason I took part was to raise awareness and money for the centre but also to try and pay back, in some small way, for the help and support I received when I most needed it.

“After the walk, the beer was great.”

Those taking part will be asked to arrive at the Kelpies for 4.30pm on the day.

Michelle Gallagher from The Engine Room will lead a 10-minute warm up from 4.45pm and the meander will start at 5pm.

Participants will be put into groups with their own walk leaders.

Registration is free with a suggested £150 sponsorship target.
