A MAN who was caught by police carrying a screwdriver and metal pole as a "scare tactic" has been jailed for nine months.
Scott Paton, 38, of Zetland Street, Clackmannan, appeared at Alloa Sheriff Court via video-link from jail.
He admitted that on July 9 last year at Zetland Street he was in possession of a screwdriver and also a metal pole.
He also admitted that he breached a curfew imposed on January 30, 2020, by being outwith his home at Argyll Place, Alloa, on April 27, 2020.
The court was told that when police found the screwdriver on Paton he told them: "That's just for a scare tactic."
Defence solicitor Larissa Milligan said her client has long-standing issues with substance misuse.
She went on: "There had been a drug death in the community and the blame was being put at the door of Mr Paton by some people. Threats were being made and he was in fear at that time."
Sheriff Ian Anderson jailed Paton for six months for the weapons offences and another 13 weeks for the breach of curfew.
