A CONVICTED sex offender sent explicit photos of himself to an Alloa woman he had not seen for years.

Barry Atkinson, of Acredales, Linlithgow, appeared in the dock at Alloa Sheriff Court on Thursday, May 13.

He admitted that on March 6 he sent unwanted naked pictures of himself engaging in sexually explicit acts to a woman in Clacks.

Defence solicitor Kelly Howe said: “The images were sent when a considerable amount of alcohol had been consumed. He was significantly intoxicated.”

Sheriff Craig Harris told Atkinson: “You’d just completed three years of supervision for a computer-based sex offence.

“You then photographed yourself and sent photos over a period of five hours. This was after having no contact with her for several years.

“She felt sick and frightened. You thought she would find it funny.”

The sheriff jailed Atkinson for two months and imposed a two-year non-harassment order.

He told then 46-year-old: “This might bring home the seriousness if your actions.”

Atkinson was also put on the sex offenders register for seven years.
