WEE COUNTY residents have been warned that military planes will be flying low over the area this week as part of a multinational training exercise.

Exercise Joint Warrior is the biggest of its kind in Europe and brings together the Navy, Air Force and Army alongside forces from other countries.

It takes place twice a year and runs through various scenarios including territory disputes and terrorist activity.

Strike Warrior, which is running as part of Joint Warrior, has been taking place on Scotland’s north-west coasts since May 8.

The UK, US, Denmark, France, Germany, Latvia, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland and Australia are taking part.

However, the Ministry of Defence has now issued low flying warnings for day and night flights between May 17 and 21.

Clackmannanshire, as well as surrounding areas Falkirk and Fife, will be subject to low-level flights both during the day and night.
