SCOTTISH indie-roots songwriter Hector Shaw will release his debut EP Gravity later this month.

Described as a “collage of coming-of-age experience and epiphanies” - the five-track record will be available from Friday, May 21.

Three singles – Gravity, Paying the Price and Masochist – have already been released to acclaim, garnering national radio play.

The artist said: “It feels strange and so positive now that the EP will soon be out in its entirety.

"In a way, this collection of songs neatly sums up a chapter of my life, and that will be lovely to look back on.

"The response has been great," he added. "I’ve received some really thoughtful feedback from various people about how the songs have touched them, which has been heartening to hear.

"People can now enjoy the EP as a whole and I hope they resonate with the remaining tracks.”

The self-penned Gravity EP was produced by Sorren Maclean and recorded and engineered by Gordon Maclean at An Tobar in Tobermory on Mull in September 2020.

To celebrate the release of the EP, Shaw travelled back to Mull to record a live gig of the record in its entirety.

The tracks, alongside some additional recordings of previously unheard tracks, will be released in June as part of a summer series from An Tobar featuring material from musicians and artists with a love for the Argyll arts venue.

Sorren Maclean, Hannah Fisher, Joe Smilie and Orla Noblejoin Hector on the live recording, helping to bring his captivating sound to life in their individual ways.

Gravity EP will be available on CD on Bandcamp and to download and stream on Friday, 21 May.
