A FURTHER two deaths linked to coronavirus have been recorded in Clackmannanshire, according to recent figures.

Data published by National Records of Scotland (NRS) shows the two fatalities occurred in the week from November 30 to December 6.

This means the total number of deaths linked to Covid-19 locally is 55.

NRS’ data was published on Wednesday, December 9, and covers the period from December 30, 2019 until December 6, 2020.

Turning from the local authority to the health board, the statistics show there have been 319 deaths connected to coronavirus in Forth Valley.

In Scotland overall, the figure stands at 5,868.

An NRS report which was published alongside the data said: "Deaths involving Covid-19 are defined as those where Covid-19 is mentioned on the death certificate, either as the underlying cause of death or as a contributory cause.

"Figures include deaths where 'suspected' or 'probable' Covid-19 appears on the death certificate."
