A TILLICOULTRY photographer's stunning work is being recognised in a national competition.

Chris Lauder, 37, received a commendation for his black and white image in the Landscape Photographer of the Year 2020 competition.

The crisp image, titled Reeds on Loch Ard, was taken on a "misty morning" a few months ago and will appear in an exhibition at the London Bridge station next month.

Chris said: "I am delighted and excited that one of my images has been commended in this year's competition.

"It was taken on a lovely misty morning in February this year at one of my favourite loch-side spots."

Chris began photographing Scottish landscapes and seascapes around 13 years ago, escaping to the coast or the hillside in search of the perfect shot.

He has been honing his craft over that time and that commitment was recognised in 2018 when he was Royal Photographic Society's (RPS) distinction of Licentiate for a panel of 10 images.

Chris has also been commended in the Scottish Landscape Photographer of the Year competition in 2017 and 2019 with his work exhibited across the country.

He added: "It took me a lot of years to have the confidence and belief in the quality of my photography to make the step forward into applying for the RPS distinction, but I was determined to achieve it.

"I am a very quiet person by nature and particularly enjoy being alone so my landscape photography naturally allows me the time and space to embrace the solitude I love.

"I especially enjoy the connection to the landscape and capturing something unique in my own way."

Chris also recently started a new website to share his work more widely and offer them for sale.
