A MOBILE testing centre for coronavirus has been set up around the Fallin and Cowie areas after a number of people tested positive.

NHS Forth Valley said the mobile testing centre will be in place for three days at the Alpha Centre car park at Lamont Crescent in Fallin.

The facility will stay there from today, Wednesday October 14, to Friday, October 16, and is available between 10am and 5pm.

It will then move on to Cowie for three days, from Saturday, October 17, to Monday, October 19 – again available between 10am and 5pm.

It will be located at Cowie Community Centre's car park.

Dr Henry Prempeh, NHS Forth Valley's consultant in public health, said: “This is a precautionary measure but one which we feel is essential due to the villages being such a close-knit community.

“I would encourage local people to go along and have a test as experience shows that some people can still have Covid-19 yet not show any symptoms.”

People should wear a face mask or covering when they attend the mobile testing centre and observe social distancing.

Meanwhile, the health board also confirmed that a ward at Falkirk Community Hospital has suspended new admissions and paused visiting on a temporary basis.

This is a precautionary measure while investigations are carried out into a small number of cases of coronavirus, identified through routine testing.

Staff, patients and their families have been informed and close contacts are being traced.
