AN EMPLOYEE at the Cambus Cooperage tested positive for coronavirus last week.
In what is being described as an isolated incident, the member of staff attended the Wee County facility before complaining of feeling unwell.
They were subsequently sent home and tested for Covid-19, a test which came back positive.
Diageo confirmed the positive case to the Advertiser and were operating as normal.
The firm added that they followed the strict protocols which are in place and have since seen no further cases.
A Diageo spokesperson told the Advertiser: "The health and safety of our people, their families and the community is our number one priority.
"We have stringent protocols and procedures in place to ensure our workplaces are as safe as possible.
"Over a week ago an employee at Cambus Cooperage felt unwell at work. They were immediately sent home and subsequently tested positive for Covid-19.
"All the safety protocols and procedures were immediately followed, including sanitation and contact tracing.
"There have been no further instances reported at the cooperage, but we continue to monitor the situation very carefully and will take whatever action necessary."
