BOGUS workmen are currently operating in the Forth Valley area, police have warned.

Reports of suspicious activity have been recorded in Denny, Grangemouth and Falkirk in recent weeks.

A police spokesperson said: "Two of the incidents are almost identical whereby the elderly occupiers have been approached and advised that they require some gardening work to be carried out urgently.

"The occupier has agreed a price which after minimal work being carried has been increased significantly.

"Once payment has been received no further work has been completed and the persons have left the area."

The suspected individuals in those incidents include one male, around 6ft tall with short blonde hair and a Scottish accent.

He was accompanied by a woman, around 5ft 2inches, with shoulder-length brown hair, small build and who was quietly spoken.

This male and female are believed to be travelling together in a White Citroen Berlingo motor vehicle.

The third incident involved the dismantling and replacement of a garden shed, and on this occasion the price was agreed, and the shed removed - but no replacement forthcoming.

The suspected individual in that incident has been described as male, aged between 21-40, around 5ft 5inches tall, with brown hair.

Police believe both parties are operating independently of each other, and have advised people not to engage with cold callers.
