THE principal of Forth Valley College’s has won a coveted prize at the prestigious Institute of Directors awards.

Dr Ken Thomson, who last year was awarded an OBE for services to education, economic development, and the communities of central Scotland, won the Regional Director – Central Scotland award, at the prestigious ceremony held virtually online on last week (Tuesday 8 September).

The principal was also shortlisted for the Public Sector Director of the Year award at the event, which was initially earmarked to be held in May 2020, but was postponed due to the pandemic lockdown.

Up to six finalists are shortlisted in each award category and winners of each of the categories are now automatically entered into the UK finals.

Describing his delight at being picked for the award, Dr Thomson said: “I am delighted to have won this award which was presented by such an important organisation as the Institute of Directors.

“I am very proud to have won, proud to work for such a wonderful college and proud to have so many excellent colleagues to share this with.”
