A FATAL Accident Inquiry will be carried out after a Clackmannanshire man died in prison.
The Scottish Prison Service confirmed that Jamie Burns died in custody at HMP Low Moss where he was serving a sentence following a conviction at Falkirk Sheriff Court earlier this year.
The circumstances surrounding the death at the Bishopbriggs prison are unclear, but Police Scotland have ruled that the death is "not suspicious", although an inquiry will take place into the death in due course.
A spokesperson from the Scottish Prison Service said: "Jamie David Hamilton Burns, 34, a prisoner from HMP Low Moss has died.
"He was convicted at Falkirk Sheriff Court in 2020. Police Scotland have been advised and the matter reported to the Procurator Fiscal. A Fatal Accident Inquiry will be held in due course."
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "We received a report of a sudden death of a 34-year-old man within a prison in Glasgow around 8.50am on Sunday, 13 September.
"The death is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
