THERE have been no deaths linked to coronavirus in Clackmannanshire for 10 weeks.

Latest data from National Records of Scotland (NRS) shows the last time Covid-19 was mentioned on a death certificate in the Wee County was in the week beginning June 29.

The total number of deaths linked to the virus in Clackmannanshire is 48; of those deaths, 35 occurred in care homes, 12 in hospital, and one at a home or other non-institutional setting.

Broken down by gender, the number of men and women who died with coronavirus in Clackmannanshire was 19 and 29 respectively.

Most deaths linked to Covid-19 in Clackmannanshire have occurred in Tullibody South, with 15 fatalities there connected to the virus.

As the Advertiser previously reported, an outbreak of coronavirus at a care home in Tullibody accounts for at least 14 of those deaths.

Sauchie has also seen a high number of deaths linked to the virus, with the NRS reporting that 13 fatalities where the virus was mentioned on the death certificate have been recorded there.

Other areas of Clackmannanshire recorded five or fewer deaths linked to Covid-19.

NRS’ data was published on Wednesday, September 16, and covers the period from December 30 last year until last Sunday (September 13).

Across the Forth Valley area, 244 deaths have been linked to coronavirus.

And in Scotland overall, 4,236 deaths had been registered where Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate.

Of those deaths across Scotland between March and August this year, 92 per cent had at least one pre-existing condition.

The most common main pre-existing condition among those who died with Covid-19 was dementia and Alzheimer’s disease (31 per cent), followed by ischaemic heart disease (13 per cent).
