LIBRARIES across the Stirling Council area are offering hearing aid batteries and more as part of the next stage of their re-opening.

While there is still no access to libraries, residents can make an appointment to collect certain items.

On top of books, people can now also collect hearing aid batteries, food waste caddy liners and dog waste bags.

The services are available through 'Select and Collect' with appointments bookable on the phone or via email.

Councillor Chris Kane, convener of the Community Planning and Regeneration Committee, said: “Our much loved libraries offer more than just books, they are important community hubs that provide vital resources for so many of our residents.

“When our libraries first began to re-start their services, we focused on our 'Select and Collect' lending service to help meet the overwhelming demand for books that had built up during the lockdown period.

“Now that we have begun to meet this demand, we have extended the hours that our libraries are available so we can bring back the supply services for waste bags and hearing aid batteries which have always proved popular.”
