THUNDERSTORMS could hit the already weather-battered Wee County and cause further flooding in the area, the Met Office has warned.
The forecaster has put a yellow weather warning in place throughout Monday and Tuesday next week (August 10-11).
It covers the whole of the UK, but it is not yet known which parts of the country will be worst affected.
The warning said: “Some places are likely to see severe thunderstorms early next week - but there is significant uncertainty in location and timing.
“There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes and large hail.
“There is a small chance of fast flowing or deep floodwater causing danger to life.
“Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to public transport.”
