STIRLING CASTLE has reopened to the public for the first time since March following its longest closure since the second World War.

The historic attraction welcomed visitors once again on Saturday following a rigorous process to ensure the site was safe for tourists who will be required to wear face coverings when entering the retail shops.

The on-site cafes will also be open, providing a take-away service.

Those visiting the castle will be able to explore the magnificent Great Hall, which is the largest of its kind ever built in Scotland; step inside the elegant Chapel Royal; take a peaceful stroll in the beautiful Queen Anne Gardens, and enjoy majestic views of the King’s Knot and Royal Park.

A number of new safety and hygiene measures will be in place at these sites.

Tickets must be booked in advance, while on site cash payments are no longer being accepted for the foreseeable future, with visitors being asked to use contactless payment where possible.
