A KEEN walker from Bannockburn has been missing for more than two weeks.

Police in the Forth Valley has launched a public appeal last Friday, July 31, in a bid to trace Paul Cairney.

The 59-year-old is missing from his Bannockburn home and may be camping in the Highlands and Islands area.

He was last seen outside his home on The Brae on Wednesday, July 15, and was reported missing last week has concerns for his whereabouts are increasing.

In a public appeal launched on social media, officers are encouraging Paul to get in touch and are asking people to share any information that could help find him.

PC Graeme Boyle said: "Paul is a keen walker and camper and may have travelled some distance, including across the Highlands and Islands, to pursue his hobby of visiting and photographing bothies.

"If anyone has seen Paul we urge them to get in touch with us.

"Likewise, if Paul sees this appeal we ask him to contact us to let officers know that he is safe and well.

"If you have information that could help find Paul please contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 1980 of Thursday, July 30."

Paul is described as 5ft 7in tall, with short greying hair and he wears glasses.

It is not known what Paul is currently wearing but it is likely to be outdoor clothing and he may have a rucksack and camping gear, including a tent.
