OVERNIGHT carriageway closures are planned on the M80 between Junction 8 Bankhead and Junction 9 Pirnhall from July 15 to 29.

This is to allow operating company Amey to carry out essential maintenance including carriageway resurfacing and replacement of expansion joints at Carron Bridge.

The northbound carriageway of the M80 will be closed between Junction 8 Bankhead and Junction 9 Pirnhall from 8pm until 6am on the nights of July 16, 21, 22, 23, 24, 27 and 28.

A diversion route for northbound traffic will be signposted from Junction 8 Bankhead via the M876 to the M9 southbound, rejoining the M876 eastbound at Junction 7 before turning at Bowtrees Roundabout and returning northbound on the M9 to rejoin the M80 at Junction 9 Pirnhall.

The southbound carriageway of the M80 will be closed at Junction 9 Pirnhall from 8pm until 6am on the nights of July 15, 17, 18, 19 and 20.

A diversion route for southbound traffic will be signposted via the M9 southbound and the M876 eastbound to Bowtrees Roundabout, from where traffic will return to M80 Junction 8 Bankhead via the M9 northbound and the M876 westbound.

Physical distancing protocols, in line with Scottish Government guidance, will be in place to ensure all on-site personnel remain safe throughout the duration of the project.

Transport Scotland and Amey says it is vital that essential maintenance works are carried out in order to maintain the integrity and safety of these routes.
