Powerleague has reopened its pitches after claiming it got the green light from Scottish authorities.

However, the football chain will now require groups of up to eight to provide address ID to prove they are all from the same households for home games.

The Glasgow Times reported Powerleague, which has artificial pitches in over 300 sites across the UK, opened its Paisley pitches on Wednesday.

However, during Scotland's second phase of lockdown contact sports have not yet been permitted.

Nevertheless, members from the same household and people who have formed a ‘social bubble’ can have physical contact.

The football chain is advertising kickabouts for up to eight people from a maximum of three households and will require address ID to verify that fact.

Eager players will also be required to sign a waiver confirming that each booker adheres to social distancing rules.

In its updated rules, individuals not following social distancing rules will be asked to leave as the chain announces safety is its primary focus.

An official statement from the chain adds: "We must be clear that we are not offering any 4v4 matches or competitive football of any kind.

"No clubhouse access can be granted for any other reason than to use the toilet, the toilet will be operated on a one in one out basis and will be cleaned and sanitised after every use.

"Staff will be checking as regularly as they can that all kick about’s (from a max of three households per day) are complying.

"PL understands it is our responsibility in Paisley to monitor compliance to social distancing and is committed to doing so.

"We are providing outdoor, sports court facilities fully aligned to the latest Scottish government advice and are working closely with trading standards to ensure we remain compliant. Our primary focus is the safety and well-being of our colleagues and customers."
