MORE than 150 deaths linked to coronavirus have been recorded in Forth Valley.

Latest figures from the National Records of Scotland (NRS) show 156 people living in the area had died with the virus as of Sunday, May 3.

The previous week (April 26) the number of deaths in Forth Valley was 124.

In Scotland overall, NRS figures show there were 2,795 deaths linked to Covid-19 by May 3.

Of those deaths between April 26 and May 3, 59 per cent occurred in care homes, 37 per cent in hospitals, and the remaining four per cent occurred at home or in other non-institutional settings.

Three quarters (75%) of all deaths involving Covid-19 to date were of people aged 75 or over.

The number of deaths involving Covid-19 mentioned in the National Records of Scotland’s figures is different from the number of deaths published daily on the Scottish Government website.

This is because the latter is based on deaths of those who have tested positive for Covid-19, whereas the report’s figures include all deaths where Covid-19 (included suspected cases) was mentioned on the death certificate.
