YOUNG people from Stirling are being encouraged to help shape the future of Scottish sport.

National body sportscotland has launched its search for fresh faces on the Young People’s Sport Panel.

Current panellist Nicola McDonald, from Dunblane, is hoping to encourage the next crop of inspirational young people with applications to the panel now open.

The 21-year-old has already made great strides in ensuring the voices of young people are heard and said: “Sport has been a big part of my life and has made me the person I am today.

“From participating in a variety of sports growing up, to coaching, it has given me the opportunity to make new friends and work in a job that I love.

“My time on the panel has given me so many experiences and opportunities, but possibly one of my favourite experiences was opening at the regional managers event when sportscotland was introducing its new strategy.

“Standing up in front of more than 250 people and sharing my story of how sport has helped me get to where I want to be was unforgettable.

“The opportunity to meet possible future employers and people who have a say in sport in Scotland was amazing.”
