RIVERSIDE FC’s girls’ teams have been given a huge four figure sum to kickstart their season.

The team were given a £2,000 cheque from Living by Robertson, a Stirling based housebuilder, and the money will be spent on new kit for the club.

Riverside have a range of teams, including men’s amateurs, over 35s veterans, mixed sex Powerchair disability adults and boys’ and girls’ teams at ages six and over, with more than 320 players, including 50 girls.

Living by Robertson is set to launch its Castle Meadows development in Stirling within the coming weeks and will now have welcome signage at the club’s home ground, Haws Park in Bridge of Allan.

Margaret Davidson, Living by Robertson sales and marketing manager, said: “Supporting the communities where we work is so important to Living by Robertson so we’re thrilled to announce this sponsorship for the girls’ section of Riverside FC.

“The popularity of girls’ and women’s football is increasing and Riverside FC has an engaged team of enthusiastic young players who train and compete every week.

“We are sure this will be a great partnership and look forward to cheering the girls on as they score lots of goals in their new team kit.”

Ian Mitchell, secretary of Riverside Girls, said: “It’s a fantastic boost for our girls’ section to receive financial support of this level from such a prominent local company.

“As a community football club, run by volunteers, we are always under pressure with growing running costs and time commitments, so any opportunity for external help is extremely welcome and gratefully received.

“We look forward to a successful 2020 season to match the launch success at Castle Meadows.”
