PROVOST Christine Simpson had the honour of starting Central Athletics Club’s annual 10K and 2K events on Sunday, September 8, as hundreds of runners of all ages pounded Stirling’s streets.

It was the 18th instalment of the race, which took in a scenic route through some of Stirling’s historic locations, starting and finishing outside Forthbank Stadium.

Omar Ahmed crossed the line first in the men’s race, breaking the course record in the process, and Fionnuala Ross finished first in the women’s event.

The provost also handed out the medals to the children who had taken part in the 2K fun run.

Provost Simpson said: “I was delighted to be invited along by the organisers to be part of this fantastic annual event which saw runners of all levels and ages get active achieve personal targets.

“Congratulations to everyone who took part in both races and to the medal winners on their successes.”
