SNP MEP Alyn Smith has opened a constituency office in Stirling.

Mr Smith, who has served as an MEP for Scotland since 2004, was re-elected in May this year in the SNP victory alongside two SNP colleagues.

His office space in Stirling is next door to SNP MSP Bruce Crawford, at Stirling Enterprise Park.

A special welcome event is taking place on Sunday, August 18, at The Golden Lion Hotel in Stirling.

Mr Smith said: "Stirling is at the very heart of Scotland, and is therefore a perfect location for me to base a constituency office, which enables me to meet with constituents.

"I have worked closely with Bruce Crawford on many issues over a number of years now, and look forward to the further opportunities that being close by will bring.

"The people of Stirling voted overwhelmingly to remain in the European Union in 2016, and now face being taken out against their democratic will in a damaging no deal exit.

"Instead of standing up for the interests of the people of Stirling, locally elected Tory politicians have merely served as apologists for a UK Government that is determined to take Scotland out of the EU.

"I look forward to continuing to work with local people in Stirling and the surrounding area in speaking up for their interests."

Bruce Crawford MSP said: "Alyn is passionate about Scotland's contribution in Europe and how this relationship benefits local communities and people.

"As someone who represents the whole of Scotland in the European Parliament, I am delighted that he has chosen to move his office to Stirling, and look forward to working with him even more closely."
