A TEENAGER from the Wee County stole the show with her fundraising efforts as part of an appearance on a TV dance contest.

Teigan Comrie, 13, took part in Strictly Kids 2019, the junior version of the popular TV programme.

And while she could not clinch the top spot despite some high scores from the judges, she netted the most money for the STV Children's Appeal.

Indeed, the youngsters went well beyond her original £500 target, bringing in an "amazing" £2,028 total.

The 48 young people taking part, including her dance partner Zac McGuire and fellow Wee County youngster Lola Rybak, raised around £15,000 altogether with Teigan bringing in more than her fair share.

Recording of the show came after weeks of practice and workshops, which was a great experience for the 13-year-old, who is an enthusiastic student of Sauchie-based Just Dance Elite, where she throws herself into every competition.

Her fundraising efforts saw her set up an online page, raising awareness and also organised dance workshop activities at Hawkhill Community Centre, which went down a treat with many fellow youngsters going along to learn some moves from professionals.

She was supported along the way by proud mum Gayle Stocks, who said: "It was a great day [when the show was being recorded] she danced amazing with her partner Zac.

"And to be the highest fundraiser [was amazing] – I feel that's what it's all about; it's what the event is for.

"She got flowers and that sent to the house to thank her for being the highest fundraiser and that was special as well."

It is understood some of the show may form part of the appeal programmes to be aired later this year.

Teigan is now even more motivated to further build her dancing skills going forward.

She received three 10s and a 9 from the judges for her dance and an automatic invitation to next year's programme, meaning she can skip the auditions if she decides to enter again.

Gayle added: "It was a great experience I think, doing the training every week and learning a difference dances."
