Stirling MP Stephen Kerr has been reselected to fight the Stirling constituency at the next General Election.

Over the same weekend Alexander Stewart, currently a regional MSP for Mid Scotland and Fife, was selected to stand for the Scottish parliamentary seat of Clackmannanshire & Dunblane at the next Holyrood elections in 2021.

Stephen was elected in 2017, overturning a 10,000 majority to take the seat from the SNP.

Since being elected he has spoken over 800 times in the House of Commons. He is also a member of the Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy Committee as well as numerous All Party Parliamentary Groups on a wide range of issues.

Stephen has held over 200 surgeries including weekly sessions knocking on doors across the constituency.

Alexander was elected in 2016 and is the shadow minister for local government.

Previously he served as a councillor in Perth for eighteen years prior to becoming an MSP.

He has lodged over 600 motions at the Scottish Parliament and convenes cross party groups on issues ranging from Malawi to Lung Health and Heart Disease. Alexander also holds surgeries and advice sessions across the region.

Willie Stirling from the Stirling and Clackmannanshire Scottish Conservative Association, who presided at both selection meetings, said: "Stephen and Alexander have shown themselves to be  excellent, hardworking representatives for their areas.

"In Westminster and Holyrood they stand up for their constituencies, Scotland and the United Kingdom week after week. Their exemplary records clearly demonstrate that they are the right people to be our candidates."

Stephen Kerr said: "It is a privilege to have been elected to represent Stirling and its communities.

"I will always do my very best to ensure that voice is heard loud and clear in Parliament. Thank you to everyone that has supported and helped me to do one of the best jobs anyone could be asked to do."

Alexander Stewart said : "It is a huge honour to have been selected. I hope by my efforts I can repay the confidence that has been placed in me and I can become the MSP for one of the best areas in Scotland."
