THE real story behind the Outlaw King blockbuster is set to be brought to life at the Battle of Bannockburn Experience this weekend.

Visitors will be invited to join re-enactors from Living History at their medieval battle camp over Saturday and Sunday, May 4 and 5.

They will have the chance to see and hear the real story behind Robert the Bruce, who was played by actor Chris Pine in the historical action drama film.

There will be various tents to showcase different roles in Robert Bruce’s army along with timed re-enactments.

Claire Grant, operational support manager, said: “This event really brings the story and history behind the film to life.

“As well as re-enactments, there will be loads of activities on offer including medieval musicians and children's jousting, making this a great day out for the whole family.

“And of course, there’s the opportunity to learn more about Bruce’s battles by playing the battle game in the visitor centre.”
