HUNDREDS of visitors took part in the annual Cadbury Egg Hunt at Alloa Tower over the Easter holidays.

The medieval residence of the Erskines saw 330 visitors, at the time of writing, over three days and around half of those took part in the egg hunt adventure, which saw them looking for clues at the historic landmark.

Face-painting, crafts and plenty more added to the offering to make sure everyone was entertained.

The event was a great boost for the tower, which welcomed guests old and new.

Alison Fraser, visitor services manager, said: “A special reduction on the admission to the tower was given to encourage people to attends this lovely attraction.

“Easter is one of our most popular event s we hold and with the fantastic weather helped.

“Feedback was that quite a lot of people had never been to the tower before as well and because it was on they brought their families along with them.”

The property is managed by the National Trust for Scotland, which has been in a unique partnership with the confectionery multi for 12 years now.

Ahead of the event, 47 of its locations took deliveries of more than 37,000 chocolate treats which were enjoyed around the country.

Alloa Tower, which is sought to date from the 14th century, is one of the earliest and largest of Scottish tower houses.

It is full of art and history inside with opulent 18th century interiors.

Visit between Mondays and Fridays, 12nnon to 4pm, with a 25 per cent discount for Clackmannanshire residents.
