AN EASTER egg hunt and family fun day was enjoyed by more than 100 people as locals soaked up some spring sunshine.

The Gartmorn Dam Country Park Development Trust (GDCPCT) held the event on Sunday, April 14, as parents took their children along before they headed back to school on Monday.

With plenty of activities to keep the little ones amused, the parents were asked to engage with staff about their thoughts on the park as a whole.

The Easter egg hunt took place in the Sunken Garden, which the trust were delighted to show off after a year of making improvements to it.

John Hosie, vice chair of the trust, told the Advertiser that everyone seemed to enjoy their day out.

He said: "It went very well with around 100 people there which was a lot more than we had anticipated.

"It was a lovely day so it was great to see so many people turn up.

"The Easter egg hunt was in the Sunken Garden which we have been working on for over a year now. It was great to host it in there after the improvements.

"There was also soft archery for the kids to try as well as a fire pit to roast marshmallows. We wanted to engage with people, too, about the Dam, generally."

Everyone was welcome to the event which was free of charge with just donations requested, although John admits that may have to change in the near future.

John wished to pay thanks to his colleagues at the trust for hosting the event as well as all of the families for turning up and making it a great day.
