A man has been found dead in a Glasgow city centre hotel. 

Police have confirmed that a body was discovered within a room of a Jamaica Street hotel on Thursday. 

Emergency services vehicles have been spotted outside of the Jury's Inn hotel towards the bottom of road, close to the River Clyde.

Police could not confirm the cause of his death at this time. 

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: "Police were called at around 2pm on Thursday, March 21, 2019 after a body of a man was found in a hotel on Jamiaca Street Glasgow. 

"Enquiries are ongoing."

Officials from the hotel have since expressed their sympathy for the man's family. 

A spokeswoman said: “We are very saddened by the incident that occurred on the premises of our hotel this afternoon and are assisting the authorities where we can.

"Our thoughts are with the family of the deceased.’
