Verdict: Four stars

COOL crooners The Overtones serenaded their Scottish fans in spectacular style with a show in Glasgow filled with festive surprises.

The four-piece created an intimate set packed with some of the greatest songs ever during their performance at the city's Royal Concert Hall last night.

Looking sharp in their fitted suits - Lachie Chapman, Mike Crawshaw, Mark Franks and Darren Everest - belted out the Womack and Womack hit Teardrops to open the show.

Lachie then teased: "Gie it laldy, Glasgow," before continuing to perform classic songs the way they should be performed.

You To Me Are Everything, Runaround Sue and I Say a Little Prayer followed before the band took time out to pay tribute to their former member Timmy Matley, who tragically died earlier this year.

A performance of The Spice Girls' Goodbye was a moment to remember and there wasn't a dry eye in the audience as the band poured their emotions into the vocals.

The Overtones proved exactly why they have been a success story with their audience as they continued the second half of the show with some original songs including Stand Up and By My Side.

The band are clearly born entertainers who each host a unique vocal which gives pop classics a different sound.

And their Overtones' sound shone through on Chris Rea's Driving Home for Christmas while Get Ready and Give Me Just A Little More Time upped the ante.

It is rare to go to a show and feel properly entertained, and The Overtones delivered with vocals, dancing and anecdotes that had the audience in stitches.

Save the Last Dance for Me and Love is in the Air finished the set beautifully, and judging by the reaction of the audience...it won't be long before the band return to the city to deliver songs in their unique Overtones way.
