IT WAS a battle of the bakers at Thistles Shopping Centre as aspiring cake makers from the centre’s retailers and management team took part in a fundraiser for Macmillan Cancer Support.
From Victorian classics to fondant favourites to chocolate temptations, tastebuds were tantalised and creative skills deployed as the bakers had to whisk, knead, ice, roll, beat and bake their way into a winning place.
Shoppers were invited to ‘Chew, Brew and Donate Too’ at the charity endeavour which raised £841.
Later the winners across three categories were announced as: Tastiest Cake - Flying Tiger; Best Design - Muffin Break; Most Creative Theme - Andrew Mill, Thistles Guest Services Manager.
Speaking about the day, Gary Turnbull, Centre Director of Thistles said: “Thank you to everyone who joined us at The Great Thistles Bake Off.
"Our retailers and centre staff hugely impressed the judges and the public with their delicious cake creations.
"We were delighted to have raised such a fantastic amount for MacMillan Cancer Support and extend our gratitude to everyone who donated.”
