AN ACTIVE Stirling volunteer has been named Dementia Friendly Walk Leader of the Year at the Paths for All Volunteer Awards 2018. 

Linda Shields was presented with the award by public health minister Joe Fitzpatrick on Thursday, September 20 at the Scottish Parliament.

Linda is one of Active Stirling’s Walk Volunteers who leads three dementia friendly walks a week.

Jude Deacons, Active Stirling’s community activation manager, said: "We are delighted for Linda who is a very valued member of our volunteer walk leading team.

"Her caring and considerate nature has made a difference to so many, with many referring to Linda as their lifeline. Every congratulations go to Linda on winning this award."

Active Stirling have been delivering sport and physical activity services throughout the Stirling area since 2006.

The organisation aims to promote health and wellbeing through exercise.
