ON TUESDAY 15 May a group of current and former Modern Apprentices supported Active Stirling to deliver a Stirling Sports Village takeover day for 45 pupils from 6 Stirling High Schools.

The Apprentices were central to the success of the takeover day and were fantastic role models to the young people that came along.

The Modern Apprentice roles within Active Stirling have proven to be a great pathway to get young people involved in the organisation. Many of Active Stirling’s previous apprentices are still working for them in various roles such as Gymnastics Coordinator, Gym Instructor and sessional coaches. All of Active Stirling’s previous Modern Apprentices have moved onto a positive destination either within sport, onto further education or employment within a different sector.

Mark Findlay, Active Stirling Employability and Volunteering Manager said “Our Modern Apprentices bring a real enthusiasm and energy into the organisation, they are highly motivated and want to learn. Active Stirling is committed to giving young people opportunities in life and the Modern Apprentice scheme is a great vehicle to do this. 2018 is the Year of Young People and it is a great opportunity to recognise and value the contribution these young people make in our communities. They encourage children to participate in a healthy active lifestyle and are positive role models”.

Active Stirling will soon be recruiting new Modern Apprentices - If you would like to follow in their footsteps and help inspire other young people, keep a look out for the advert at activestirling.org.uk/Job-Vacancies
