A Stirling B&B has become one of the first in the world to receive a top award from leading travel website TripAdvisor.

Ravenswood Guest House, on Causewayhead Road, has been named in TripAdvisor’s all-time ‘Hall of Fame’ – an accolade reserved for hotels and restaurants which have received the website’s ‘Certificate of Excellence’ in each of the last five years. Certificates of Excellence are only awarded to businesses which consistently receive ratings of more than four out of five on TripAdvisor.

Ravenswood has a five-out-of-five overall rating on the website, with more than 98 per cent of guests having rated it as ‘excellent’ or ‘very good’. The four-bedroom B&B has never received a review of less than three-out-of-five.

The TripAdvisor Hall of Fame is open to visitor attractions, restaurants and accommodation of all sizes from around the globe. The Ravenswood is in esteemed company with the world-famous Venetian Resort in Las Vegas also being inducted into the Hall of Fame this year.

Much of Ravenswood’s popularity is attributed by guests to the B&B’s cleanliness, the enthusiasm of its owner and his willingness to provide information and recommendations for other businesses and restaurants in the local area.

Stuart Wilson purchased Ravenswood in 2007 and has grown its reputation as one of the best value, centrally located, guest houses in the Stirling area.

The converted Victorian townhouse offers four bedrooms, all of which have en-suite facilities, and guests can enjoy one of the Ravenswood’s trademark Scottish breakfasts, made with a range of locally-sourced produce. The B&B is equally popular with tourists and businesspeople, being just a 20 minute walk from the train station and university, while also offering ample free parking.

It also welcomed guests who were visiting Scotland last year for the Ryder Cup at Gleneagles and even hosted representatives from national teams in the lead up to the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.

Stuart combines running the successful business with his love of extreme multi-sports. When he isn’t welcoming guests or making breakfast, the man from Braco can usually be found cycling on the roads around Stirling or running in the Ochils.

He said: “This award means a lot because it’s ultimately decided by the guests so it’s fantastic to know that so many have enjoyed their stay at Ravenswood. Having somewhere clean and comfortable to stay plays such an important part in an enjoyable trip and I take that responsibility seriously.

“I pride myself on being able to offer the personal touch that bigger hotels might not be able to. There are some great restaurants and local shops and attractions in and around Stirling so I enjoy being able to give my guests a tip for somewhere they might not have visited otherwise.

“I’d like to thanks everybody for their positive reviews and look forward to welcoming them back, and others for the first time, to Ravenswood. I’m always looking for ways to further enhance the experience of staying here and have some things planned for the coming year.”
