WRAP up warm, head to Scotland's capital and get in the mood for the festive season.

Try out ice-skating at St Andrew Square, enjoy a nativity carol concert, or check out a fantastic art installation filled with ice and snow sculptures.

Underbelly has presented an absolutely packed line-up for Edinburgh's Christmas, on behalf of the City of Edinburgh Council.

The agenda will kick off when The Festival Square Spiegeltent pops up today (Friday, November 17) outside the Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa on Lothian Road, with a dazzling new show from the internationally famous La Clique.

And Sunday, November 19 is Light Night in Scotland’s capital when the twinkling lights are switched on across the city.

It will again be hosted by Forth One DJ Arlene Stuart and will showcase the Edinburgh’s best amateur choirs and dance groups, including Little Voices Big Stars, Edinburgh Rock Choir and Edinburgh Ballet.

This year Edinburgh's Christmas expands across the city from East to West, North to South and into community hubs outside the centre.

A new offering is Edinburgh’s Giant Advent Calendar, this free attraction, created by Double Take Projections, will be projected nightly onto General Register House, with 25 glimpses of Edinburgh winters from years gone-by, one revealed each day.

And of course, Christmas just wouldn't be the same without a visit to the big man in the red suit.

Santa's Grotto is moving to join Ice Adventure on George Street – children can meet him, hear a festive fairytale and receive a little gift.

East Princes Street Gardens remains a centre point for families with Santa Land’s Christmas Tree Maze providing lots of Christmas magic to kids aged 1 to 100+.

Favourite rides including the Star flyer, traditional double Carousel and the Forth One Big Wheel return.

The gardens throw open their gates on Saturday, November 18.

Or, find something unique in the markets.

The Scottish Market will join together with the European Market, seeing more than 130 craft, food and drink stalls pop up across the gardens; free to access.

Celebrations come to a close after seven weeks of fun on Saturday, January 6.
