IT’S an exciting time for Jazzart College of Performing Arts as they celebrate the opening of their new premises this month.
Based in the heart of Lanarkshire, the Motherwell studios offer full and part time courses in music, dance and musical theatre and looks set to take the arts education world by storm.
Star maker, Sheridan Nicol who is the director of Jazzart anticipates a busy time ahead now that the school’s new state of the art facilities are up and running.
She said: "Throughout my professional career, I've been fortunate to work in some of the best studios in the world and since founding Dancebase in Edinburgh I have always wanted to create a professional performing arts space in Lanarkshire to provide opportunities for young performers in the area.
"At last we have created a studio centre to house our renowned training for all ages. No gimmicks, no false promises - just success through hard work and maybe just a little sprinkle of stardust too - that's Jazzart.”
Many of Jazzart’s former pupils have gone on to enjoy successful and lucrative careers in show business and the courses on offer will train and prepare the talented students for their futures within the arts world. Courses allow the students to polish their performance levels and help to develop a range of relevant stagecraft, acting and audition technique. Jazzart is committed to nurturing students’ individuality and creativity as well as following the official curriculum.
Jazzart College of Performing Arts has become the first choice venue for young performers within the local community but hopes to attract students from all over Scotland.
Jazzart College of Performing Arts is holding an Open Day on Saturday, April 1 to allow prospective students the chance to look around the new premises.
