(Various Roads - Spaces For People) (Temporary Speed Restriction) No 1 Order 2021
The Scottish Borders Council (Various Roads - Spaces for People) (Temporary Speed Restriction) No 1 Order 2021 has been made under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended. The Order, which has a maximum duration of 18 months, will come into force at 00:01 on 3 May 2021 and is expected to remain in effect until 23:59 on 4 April 2022. The Order is required for the Spaces for People initiative to make the lengths of road safer for cyclists and walkers. When the Order comes into effect no person shall drive or cause or permit to be driven any vehicle:
(a) at a speed exceeding 30mph along the length of those roads in the Scottish Borders detailed in Schedule I attached to this Order; and
(b) at a speed exceeding 40mph along the length of those roads in the Scottish Borders detailed in Schedule II attached to this Order.
The temporary speed restrictions will only be in effect when appropriate signage is in place on the affected lengths of road.

Speed Restriction) No 2 Order 2020 made on 28 September 2020 and The Scottish
Borders Council (Various Roads - Spaces for People) (Temporary Speed Restriction)
No 3 Order 2020 made on 12 October 2020 will be revoked where they relate to
the roads detailed in Schedule I and Schedule II to this Order.
