Stirling Castle is set to host an open air production of Pride and Prejudice on Thursday 30 July at 7.30pm.

The performance is part of the Chapter House Theatre Company’s Open-air Garden Theatre Tour of the UK and Ireland.

This is the company’s 16th year of touring, and they are delighted to be bringing life to some of literature’s best loved classics in magical outdoor performances that are great fun for all the family.

Over the years Chapterhouse has performed Pride and Prejudice to thousands of delighted theatre-goers.

Scriptwriter Laura Turner said: “Pride and Prejudice is such an enduring classic that it’s wonderful to see it return again this summer. For me, this most famous of Jane Austen’s novels couldn’t be better suited for a summer’s evening entertainment in a beautiful country garden setting.” Director, Rebecca Gadsby, added: “I am delighted to return to Pride and Prejudice this summer, which will be my fifth time of directing this adaptation. It is a personal favourite of mine; it was the first period drama I ever read and I’ve been hooked ever since. The story and the setting suit the stately home environment perfectly and the story translates well to the open-air stage.

“Once again, we will study the airs, graces and rules of courtship of this period to bring you an accurate portrayal of romance in the 19th Century. Add in your own picnics, warm summer’s evening and a few stars and you have the ideal accompaniment for this beautiful story.” Adult tickets are £14, children’s £10 and concessions £12. There is a 10 per cent discount available for Historic Scotland members, and 10 per cent discount for parties of 10 or more. Gates open at 6.45pm, and guests are asked to bring their own rugs or rubber-footed seating. In the event of heavy rain an indoor alternative is available.

Tickets and information are available from Stirling Castle (01786 450000) and See Tickets (0871 220 0260 or www.seetickets.com).
