Now going into its fifth year, the Free Range Folk Stage returns with another peck-cellent line-up of artists.

Curated in association with Glachbeg Croft, this year’s bill features a host of young emerging talent from across the Highlands including Alice Bentley, Connor Johnstone, Douglas Scott, Sarah Williamson, Josephine Sillars and Imogen Islay Hay.

Other acts from the north include established musicians Dr. Wook, Winnie (The Side), Robin Bell, James Mackenzie and a very rare acoustic set from The Rites.

Findlay Napier seen by many as of the most highly-regarded performers and creative forces on the Scottish music scene will perform a set of his own brand of modern Scottish folk.

Up and coming Glasgow-based musician Declan Welsh, who has recently supported the likes of The Proclaimers, Squeeze, Glasvegas and Ocean Colour Scene, will also perform on the stage.

Other emerging singer/songwriters from around Scotland include Natalie Clark and Alex Hynes, both making waves in the music industry.

Live band performances will take place across the two days from acts including Anton & The Colts from Glasgow who have been taking venues by storm, the reformed classic Highland act Talking Point, three piece folk act The Cask from Carrbridge, Inverness act The Hookliners, rootsy/country influenced trio Rising Souls from Edinburgh, Aberfeldy/Dunkeld gypsy folk influenced act Trees Don’t Travel, and our very own Something, Someone.

Morgan Woods from Alloa – frontwoman and bassist from Something, Someone - said: “We’re buzzing to play Bella. It’s such a great festival. Last year I was a regular punter and now this year I’ve been given the privilege to play onstage. We’ll give it our all and we hope that this is our first appearance of many at the amazing Tartan Heart Festival.” Celtic performances on the stage will come from The Full Tilt Ceilidh Band on Saturday afternoon and closing performances each night with Head North late on Friday and Tweed on Saturday.

Finally, Music Plus selected artists Hollie Atkinson from Nairn, who won the inaugural Bella’s Got Talent, and Michiel Turner from Elgin will open the stage on Friday and Saturday respectively.

Bob Bull from Glachbeg Croft said: “The stage goes from strength to strength with a great mix of local talent with a scattering from those from further away, allowing listeners and musicians to learn from each other.”
