Stirling Albion star Willie Robertson was delighted with the club’s victory over Peterhead and believes the win was no less than he and his team-mates deserved.

The 2-1 victory was the Binos’ first home win of the season and reduced the gap at the foot of the table to ten points, writes Jamie Hall.

Robertson told Stirling News sport: “It’s great to get a home win. The boys were due it with the way we’ve been playing, but it’s been hard to see out games and we’ve been conceding in the last ten or 15 minutes “We saw that when we were beating Morton and Dunfermline, but they both came back late on.

“When you win you go into your next game thinking you can beat anybody and that’s what we’ll be doing this week [against Forfar]. A lot of teams beat each other in this league and anyone can beat anyone on their day, so there’s not a lot between teams in the league.” Despite the gap at the bottom of League One, Robertson still thinks the Binos have a chance of avoiding the trapdoor.

“The main aim now is to kick on, get a few more wins and enjoy the end of the season. We’re down at the bottom just now, but hopefully we can get a few wins and see where it takes us.

“Ayr and Stenhousemuir losing is good for us, but at the same time we’re just aiming to win games and so we’re focusing on that.

“We’re looking to next season as well. If we do go down, hopefully we can kick on, do well and get ourselves straight back up.

“If we are going to stay up, then we need to win games. But as long as we go out and enjoy our football then I think we’ll definitely win some more games” The 21-year-old is delighted to be back in manager Stuart McLaren’s starting eleven after a spell on the substitutes’ bench and hopes to continue to make an impact on the field.

He said: “I lost my place in the team because of suspension. I was waiting for my chance to get back in but Angus Beith and Craig Comrie have been doing really well, so I wasn’t going to be chapping on the manager’s door.

“Now I’ve got myself back in the team and since then we’ve got a draw against Dunfermline and a win against Peterhead which are two good results. I feel that as a team we’ve done better recently, so hopefully I can stay in the side and keep contributing.

“We want to win a few games for the fans that have been coming all season. They’re due a couple of home wins.”
