STIRLING Albion boss Greig McDonald has revealed he is hoping to add to his squad before the game against Berwick Rangers at Shielfield Park this weekend.

Defender Luca Gasparotto will now return to Rangers after his loan spell, via a training camp with Canada in Florida, while fellow central defender Chris Smith is likely to be out for at least another few weeks following knee surgery earilier this month.

McDonald, who recently signed Falkirk midfielder Craig Comrie, admits he was disappointed with his side’s performance despite them grinding out a hard-fought 1-0 win over Queen’s Park last weekend.

He said: “We are looking at one or two options and hope to do something before Saturday.” “It was the sort of game that would get football stopped!

“The only difference between the sides is that we started brightly, which hasn’t been like us in the last few weeks to be honest.

“I’m pleased that Mark Ferry got another goal and I’m pleased that we got a clean sheet and three points but I’m disappointed in the way we played.

“However, the most important thing is that we won the match.

“That’s seven points from the last nine now and hopefully we can keep stringing results together.” It was a case of winning ugly for the Binos as Mark Ferry’s early goal proved enough to give them all three points against Queen’s Park on Saturday.

Ferry struck inside three minutes at the Excelsior Stadium and the victory saw Albion climb to third place in League 2 but overall the game itself was a largely forgettable 90 minutes that was largely devoid of goalmouth action.

Meanwhile, Stirling will be in for a difficult away trip to the borders to face weekend opponents Berwick Rangers after they named ex-Cowdenbeath boss Colin Cameron as their player/manager in the wake of Ian Little’s departure last weekend.

Cameron’s first game in charge is likely to add an extra competitive edge to a fixture that has already proven difficult for the Forth Vally outfit in recent times.

Ex-Bino defender Jamie Clark also found himself a new club this week following his departure from Forthbank this month when he signed for Bo’ness United.

The 20-year-old had a spell on loan at the East Region Super League side last season and has now returned to Newtown Park, with his new team sitting second in the MacBookie.com East Super League table after a 7-0 win at Armadale at the weekend.

Jamie joins a number of ex-Albion players currently at Bo’ness, including Mark Peat, Stewart Devine, Nicky Walker and Darren Gribben.
