Stirling Albion new boy Aurelien Mazel says he is loving life in Scotland following his summer switch from French football.

Stuart McLaren swooped to sign the experienced Frenchman, who moved to Scotland in July, and Mazel revealed he is settling in well in his new surroundings.

The 32-year-old admitted he is still getting used to the Scottish game but hopes to have a positive impact on the pitch for the Binos.

Mazel told Stirling News Sport: “I am enjoying life here. I've been learning every day because it is very different from playing football in France. There is a good atmosphere around the club.

“Me and my wife have just had our first child together so that is why I moved here. I am enjoying life in Scotland. Everybody is friendly and has helped me to settle in. I'm very happy.”

Mazel began his career with Toulouse and played UEFA Cup football for Chateauroux before moving to third-tier side Colomiers, where he was made captain.

He said: “I was at Colomiers for seven years and I was captain there. I think the experience I have will be useful for the team. I have been training every day to try and get match-fit, and I hope the young players can learn from me. Hopefully when I am on the pitch I can have a positive effect.”

The versatile star came on as a substitute as the Binos lost out to Queen's Park, but insists they can bounce back next week when they visit East Fife.

He added: “Of course it is disappointing, because at home you really need to win. It was a difficult game because Queen's Park are a good team who play good football, but I think we need to be more confident. We have to improve in both penalty areas, both when we are defending and when we attack. We will go and work hard and try to do better next week. It's important that we go there, get the win and start to take some points.”
