Young golfers in Central Scotland have the chance to test their skills this summer in the Forth Valley and West Lothian Junior Golf Flag Series.

Now in its sixth year, entries are now open for the series of seven events which begins at Callander Golf Club on Thursday 9 July, ending at Polkemmet Golf Club on Sunday 13 September.

ClubGolf flag events allow youngsters to experience their first competitive golf in a fun and friendly environment, play different courses, and meet other players. They are for boys and girls, aged eight to 14, in the first stage of the ClubGolf coaching programme or above, who do not have a club or CONGU handicap. There are three categories of competition suited to every level.

ClubGolf Regional Manager for Central Scotland, Mandy Martin, said: “Players and parents really enjoy the events which are in a simple format and kindly hosted by the clubs. The main thing is having fun at the same time as learning about competitive golf, experiencing different courses, and meeting other young golfers.

“For many of the players who took part in the first series six years ago, it was their first-ever competition, and they are now low handicap players, some of whom are now progressing through the Scottish Golf Development Centres programme.” All players are encouraged to come along, give it a go and have fun!
