RJM Sports Scottish Amateur Cup

Round 4

Bannockburn 10-0 FC Argyle

Bannockburn made light work of their opponents as they progressed into round 5 with ease.

The home side started bright as chances from Robbie Todd and Ryan Weir were saved by the keeper.

Bannockburn broke the deadlock after 10 minutes when a ball from the right from Darren Walker found Steven Knox unmarked to stroke the ball into the far corner.

Knox doubled his tally and Bannockburn’s lead shortly after when he reacted quickest to knock the ball home beyond the Argyle keeper.

Shortly after it was 3 when great play down the left between Donaldson and Michael Weir allowed Michael to go one v one with the keeper and he duely knocked it by him.

Probably one of Bannockburn's best plays of the day produced a fine goal when a lot of one-twos between Steven Knox, Dave Donaldson and skipper Harry Bruce split open the Argyle defence and allowed Bruce to volley home.

Burn made it 5 shortly before the break when Dave Donaldson broke through the Argyle defence after giving the centre half all sort of problems with his quick footwork as he finished the ball into the far corner.

Half time 5-0

Steven Knox finally got his hat-trick when after good midfield work, a through ball from McLellan allowed Knox to beat the offside trap and go one on one with the keeper, who went down far too early and allowed knox to pick his spot.

Seventh followed after great work in the middle found Ross Cavanagh on the right who picked out Donaldson who stroked the ball into the bottom left corner.

Ryan Weir got Burn’s eighth goal when fired home a shot from the left after a well worked set piece.

David Donaldson also wanted in on the hat-trick action as him and knox were left to fight for the match ball after beating two men in the box and unleased a curling strike into the far left corner.

Ross Cavanagh rounded off the scoring in the last minute of the game for his first goal of the season.

This now sets up a home tie vs Saturday Morning league side, Glasgow South AFC. Tie scheduled for first Saturday of new year.

Many thanks to tartan arms for their continued sponsorship and their after match hospitality.

Bannockburn are away to Dunblane thistle in the Premier League this coming Saturday, December 16.
