IT was a busy weekend at Stirling Golf Club with the ladies hosting the festival trophy in Tri-am format on Saturday and the open gents Wilson Salver on Sunday in a revised Greensomes format.

The weather was mixed on both days with some prolonged heavy showers with spells of fine weather and little wind.

Visiting players on were very complimentary on the condition of the course and greens and the presentation of the course.

Visitors from over 40 clubs around Scotland participated in a full field on Sunday, Stirling members took four out of the five leading prizes.

Less than two shots splits the leading five scores with Kenny Stewart and Stuart Todd narrowly missing out on the prizes by 0.2 shot, with an excellent one over par 73.

The winners, both Stirling members were Chris Goode and David Sharp on 64.8 with half's of 37-39 with birdies at the 9th and 11th and 11 pars.

Runners up were Stewart Gillespie and James McKean on 65.8 with James holing a 30 foot par putt on the last green in half's of 39-36.

Third was Stevie Duncan and Jim Anderson with a level par round of 72 with a 2 at the 8th and a closing birdie in half's of 37-35.

Fourth place was Edward Dallas from Torrance House and partner William Wright from The Carrick with a level par round of 72 in half's of 35-37 with birdies at the 5th, 9th and 10th holes.

Leading scratch score was club champion Alan Watson and David Oates both Stirling with a 3 under par 69.
